Amber Helton is our February Member Spotlight. She is 28 years old and lives in Aurora, IN. Amber has been a member of the Credit Union since 2009. Amber has worked at the Aurora Wal-Mart for 8 years. She is a sweet, kind person and has a voice that is a pleasure to listen to. Perfect for this month’s spotlight.
1. What do you do at Wal-Mart?
I work at the PhotoLab, in Electronics and deal with all of the wireless components that we sell.
2. What is the best part of your job?
I like helping the customers find what they need. I am familiar with the three areas that I work in, so I am able to fix most customers problems.
3. Why did you want to work at Wal-Mart?
My cousin suggested I put in an application, and I got hired. I really like my job, it’s close to home and I like my co-workers. It is a good place to work.
4. If you weren’t doing your current job what would your dream job be?
I would love to own a used bookstore with a small coffee shop.
5. So you like to read?
Yes I love to read. I have a Nook. I like Christian Romance novels.
6. Do you have a hobby other than reading?
I like sports, I play volleyball in the winter and softball in the summer.
7. Do you collect anything?
I collect dolphin figurines. I went to SeaWorld in Ohio when I was ten and have been collecting them since. I must own 30 or 40.
8. What do you do on a Friday night?
I like to get together with friends. Sometimes I just sit at home, fix popcorn and watch a movie or read.
9. Do you have a favorite movie?
Yes Dirty Dancing with Patrick Swayze and Jennifer Grey.
10. What is your favorite time of day?
At sunset, the sky is so pretty.
11. What is the favorite thing in your closet?
My clarinet, we have a musical family so everyone will bring their instruments and join in. My Grandma plays the guitar, and my Grandpa plays the banjo.
12. Who’s been the greatest influence on you?
My Grandparents and my Mom.
13. Do you have a favorite place to shop?
I love flea markets and antique stores.
14. Do you have a favorite vacation?
Yes, I went to Chicago with friends.
15. What talent would you most like to have?
To be able to play the piano.
16. Do you like to cook?
I love to bake. I like to bake cakes to give to my family.
17. Who has been the kindest to you?
My Grandpa, he spoils me.
18. What would you do if you won the lottery?
I would buy a house for me and my family. I would donate money to help my church, and I would give most of it away to charities.
19. What’s the best decision you ever made?
To follow the Lord, especially in today’s world.
20. What’s the best advice you ever got?
My Grandma always tells me this old fashion saying “ Make sure they buy the cow before you give them the milk for free.”
